Seaburn R. Tidwell, 49, who spent more than half his life on the Tampa police force, retiring as a detective, died yesterday in Tampa Hospital. His retirement came Nov. 17 because of a heart ailment. He was a member of the department for more than 26 years. Born near Marianna, he came to Tampa around 1920 and lived the past 10 years at 26th Ave. A member of the Jackson Hejghts Baptist Church, he belonged to Tampa Masonic Lodge 240 and the Scottish Rite. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Shirley Tidwell, of Tampa; six sons. Arthur, Bobby, Billy and Virgil, of Tampa; Howard, of Miami, and Elwood, of Barnesville, S. C; three brothers, Felton, of Marianna; G. D. of Bascom, and James of Panama City, and four sisters, Mrs. Clara Mae Brogden, of Marianna, and Mrs. Verna Ford, Mrs. Arline Cloud and Mrs. Doris Cover Culverhouse, all of Bascom.
