Hines Superintendent Mourned
James Oliver Red
1925-1975
The many friends and relatives of James Red, superintendent-principal of the Hines Elementary School, were saddened by his passing last Saturday, August 9, 1975, at Providence Hospital in Portland. He had been in ill health for some time past. Mr. Red was born at La Grande, Oregon on May 18, 1925. He was a World War II veteran and was married on June 29, 1945 at Pendleton to Mildred Carrie Red who survives him. In August of 1952, the Reds moved to Hines where they had since made their home, and where he was superintendent-principal of the Hines Elementary School. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Burns, a long-time and active member of the Burns Lions Club and the Burns Elks Lodge.
