Luella J. Buntrock died Oct. 31, 2007. She was a prior resident of Victorville.
Luella was born, baptized and confirmed in Hecla, SD.
uella attended college and taught in a one room school house until she met Harold Buntrock. Luella married Harold on Sept. 16, 1946. Harold and Luella started farming together shortly after they were married. They lived on loans and worked hard to grow crops and raise livestock. The Lord blessed their hard work by multiplying their herds and crops.
Luella was more than a farmer's wife. She worked alongside Harold in the fields, did farm chores and all of the household chores while tending to her three children.
Harold and Luella moved to California in 1953 due to Harold's farm related asthma. They eventually moved to Barstow and helped found Concordia Lutheran Church. Luella lent her musical talents to the church by playing the organ for Sunday service and creating and leading the 25 member children's choir and adult senior choir.
Luella was a stay at home mother with her four children. She operated a county licensed daycare from her home for more than 12 years.
Luella eventually found employment with the telephone company as a phone operator and the city of Barstow as a receptionist.
uella then worked for the next 20 years at the Marine Corps Logistics Base as an industrial painter and a supervisor until she retired.
Harold and Luella became members of St. John Lutheran Church in the early years when the church worshipped at Dudley Mortuary. Luella played the organ there for many years.
Harold and Luella spent their retirement years fishing and following the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Upon Harold's death, Luella spent many weekends shopping and attending local events with her daughter, Glenda, and following baseball.
uella took pleasure maintaining her yard and growing plants, always true to her farming roots.
Luella was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, and her brothers, Wilfred and Joey Siefkes.
