THE PARIS NEWS, Mon., Jan. 6, 1997, p.5A: 'J.G. Derrick, 86, of Paris died Saturday, Jan. 4, 1997, at Cherry Street Annex. Gene Roden's Sons, Directors of Funerals, conducted graveside services at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Meadowbrook Cemetery with the Rev. Harley Stripland officiating. He was born Sep. 2, 1911, in Broadway to Luther Joe and Lola Davis Derrick. He had served in the Navy and was a retired restaurant owner. Surviving are his wife, Reba Ann; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Bonnie Derrick of Paris; a sister, Faye Crammer of Greenville; two grandchildren, Lisa Young and Angie Derrick, both of Paris; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Jennifer Benningfield, and Jessica and Jeri Lyn Thompson, all of Paris.'
