Peter B. Compton, 73, of Rocky Mount, died Friday, September 12,1997, at the VA Medical Center.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Wayne Compton.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Billy Campbell, Richard and Marlene Young, Jean and John Millirons all of Rocky Mount; one daughter-in-law, Felicia Compton; seven grandchildren, Steven Hodges, Lisa Preston, Germaine Mommerency, Sherri Taylor, Trevin Millirons, Ricky Young, Justin Millirons; three great-grandchildren, Stephanie Preston, Brandon Dillon, Ryan Hodges; one brother and sister-in-law, Ira and Mary Compton; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be conducted at High Street Cemetery, 2:00 p.m., Sunday with Reverend Jackie Spence officiating. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m., Saturday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service and other times at the home of Brenda and Billy Campbell, 60 Anderson Street.
