Tommy was a talented pianist and played at numerous churches, weddings, homes for the elderly and the DeVilbiss Funeral Home.
He was the son of Brainard Stanton Charlton, Sr and Margaret "Peg" Ward Charlton. His mother was a sister to his father's first wife, Etta Ward Charlton

brothers, Buddy Charlton, Chester Charlton [died in California in 1991, and Bobby Charlton [died in Roanoke in 2007]
half-brothers and sisters, Brainard Stanton Charlton, Jr, Charles Ward Charlton, Mildred Dixon and Etta Kate Graves
sister-in-law, Lorna Short Charlton, wife of Chester [died in 2006 in California]
nephews, Richard Stanton Charlton and Elvin Jackie Graves, Jr
Funeral services were held at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home Chapel in Radford with interment in the West View Cemetery in Radford.
