Dorothy C. Hammes, 69, of 1122 E. Racine St., died at her home on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Sheboygan on March 11, 1936, the daughter of Leo and Marie (Meyer) Block. She married Larry S. Hammes on May 14, 1955, in Sheboygan at Holy Name Church. Dorothy moved to Orfordville in 1976 and to Janesville in 1991. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and her German Shepherds. She is survived by her 3 children: Sherlyn (Jim) Howe of Beloit, Lisa (Steve) Anderson and Erik (Angie) Hammes, both of Janesville; a granddaughter, Amethyst Anderson of Janesville; 2 sisters, Mary Ann (Larry) McConkey of San Diego, CA, and Bernice (Brian) Driscoll of Sheboygan; father of her children, Larry Hammes of Janesville; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mike Hammes; and brother, Jerry Block.
