Judy A. Powell, age 57, of Walker, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013. She was a 1973 graduate of Beecher High School in Flint where she participated in synchronized swimming. After Skip moved to Flint for a job, Judy was introduced to him and the courtship began; they were married on April 7, 1973. Judy continued to work mostly as a waitress and was particularly well known as the "Rocking Waitress" at Pops Restaurant. She was very proud to be a member of The Red Hat Society. Judy is survived by her husband, Skip; children, James V. (Kristy) Powell and Jamie L. Kingston; grandchildren, Isaac J. Powell, Adison S. Powell, Bailey J. Powell, Grace Smith, Alex J. Kingston, Alyssa R. Kingston, and Aiden M. Kingston; nieces, nephews, and cousins; father-in-law, Jim V. Powell and his family. The service for Mrs. Powell will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Pederson Funeral Home with Pastor Vern VanderWerf officiating who also performed their marriage ceremony.
