Arthur "Art" George Austin, 72, 220 S. Main Ave., Sidney, Ohio passed away at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima, Ohio on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 8:36 AM from complications from open heart surgery. He was born May 14, 1941 in Sidney, Ohio the son of George Austin and Gwen (Williamson) Linniman and they are deceased. He was married to Gail Elizabeth Conway on April 24, 1965 and she survives in Sidney along with two sons, Jamie (Barb) Austin of Fort Loramie and Darrell (Barb) Austin of Sidney and three daughters, Deb (Keith) Goins of Piqua, Lori (Jim) Edwards of Sidney, and Stephanie Austin of Atlanta, Georgia; ten grandchildren, Emily, Ethan, Derek, Alisha, Ashley, Kaleb, Tharon, Josh, Brittany, and Jacob and three great-grandchildren, Leilanah, Aubreigh, and Emalee; four sisters, Sue Ann (Arthur) Hatfield of Huber Heights, Alice Tucker of Dayton, Phyllis Roy of Sidney and Patty Bryant of Kentucky and two brothers, Tom (Peggy) Austin of McCartyville and Jerry (Josie) Linniman of Sidney. He retired from the City of Sidney in 1996 after thirty years and then worked part-time at Honda for five years. He loved to garden, fish, mushroom hunt, play cards, play pool and take walks in Tawawa Park. He was an avid bowler for fifty eight years. He was inducted in the Bowler's Hall of Fame in 2013. He bowled on numerous leagues. He was a collector of many things. He especially enjoyed spending time with all his grandchildren and always attended all their activies. He was a United States Army veteran for 9 ½ years. He was a member of the Sidney American Legion, VFW, Elks and Eagles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Dan Schmitmeyer. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2-6 PM and from 9 until 10:00 AM on Monday, March 31, 2014. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church, 324 South Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365, Lehman High School, 2400 St. Mary's Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365 or the Wilson Memorial Hospital Foundation, in care of the Diabetes Association, 915 W.
