Lydia Branca Wolery was born in Johnstown, Colo., to Jacob and Anna Marie (Schnell) Miller. She passed away Oct. 21, 2009, at North Colorado Medical Center Hospice Inpatient Unit. She lived in rural areas in Weld and Boulder counties, where she attended country schools.
Lydia was nicknamed "Blondie" by a brother, and close friends and the family called her that through her life.
Lydia married Pete Branca in Cody, Wyo., and made their home in Greeley. They owned the Rosedale Inn until 1950, and then opened and operated Branca's Little Italy Italian restaurant until Mr. Branca's death in 1967.
Lydia worked at Safeway in Greeley, where she met and married Lester Wolery in 1976. Upon her retirement in 1983, Lydia and Lester enjoyed bowling, traveling, cooking and entertaining friends for dinner. They enjoyed Evans Senior Center activities and trips with the group. Lester passed away in 1995.
Lydia had been a resident at the Life Care Center in Greeley for the past two years. She enjoyed her many friendships with other residents and employees.
Lydia is survived by her son, Robert E. Branca of Lakewood, Colo.; her daughter, Marjorie Y. Wiedeman and husband Willy of Greeley; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents, three brothers, Jacob P., Henry D., and William H. Miller; and sister, Irene Smith, all of the Greeley area.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Adamson Chapel, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Ave. Greeley, CO 80634..
