Marilyn "Sissy" J. Allen, 74, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014, at her home.

Marilyn was born April 4, 1939, in Springfield, the daughter of Irvin and Edna Cundiff Allen.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Marilyn was a member of the Bissell United Methodist Church.

She retired from Memorial Medical Center in 2007 after 24 years of service.

She also worked at Steak 'n Shake and Taylors Café as a waitress.

Marilyn attended Pawnee High School.

She spent the past 30 years as an antique dealer. Her passion was collecting cookie jars, and she had collected more than 300 cookie jars.

Marilyn also was an active volunteer at the Mary Bryant Home for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Springfield.

Marilyn is survived by her sister, Connie M. (husband, Charlie) Bailey of Springfield and several nieces and cousins.

Marilyn's family will meet friends on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Mary Bryant Home for the Blind and Visually Impaired at 2960 Stanton St. in Springfield. The Rev. Eric Hansen from the iWorshipCenter will officiate.

Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
