OBITUARY
Emory Loyd Boggs

Emory Loyd Boggs , 22 ,1506 Sarah St., died 1 p.m. yesterday in a Birmingham hospital.
Survivors include his parents ,Gadsden Police Capt.and Mrs. W. L. Boggs , Gadsden: Brother , Gary Wayne Boggs , Gadsden : Sister , Miss LaRhetha Boggs, Gadsden: Sister-In-Law , Mrs. Debbie Boggs: fiancee,Miss Esther Irene Finlayson ,Gadsden: Grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. W.C. Boggs,Dawson, Mrs. Bertha Maddox, Fyffe: Several Uncles , Aunts & Cousins.
Funeral Services will be tomorrow at 2:00p.m from Bellevue United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Clark Pope , Milton Hardy and Herb Billingsley officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Mr. Boggs was a native of Dekalb Co and resident of Etowah Co., most of his life. He was a member of Bellevue United Methodist Church, an active member of Extended Ministries Program and one of the founders of The Free Fellowship House,. Mr. Boggs was a former youth director at First United Methodist Church of Atalla , and a former physical director of the Central Boys Club . He was a 1971 graduate of Gadsden High School and student of Gadsden State Jr. College ,and was studying for the ministry.Mr. Boggs was employed with the Zippy Mart. Mr. Boggs prayer en route to the hospital was a prayer for forgiveness of the person who committed this act. The body will remain at Collier -Butler until hour of service.

Emory died in a Birmingham hospital abt 10 hours after he was doused with a flamable liquid and set on fire during a robbery at the local convenience store where he worked , while going to college. 17 year old Standford Louis Collins pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison.
