Ann E. Newcomer, 68, of Findlay, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 6:40 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Blanchard Valley Hospital surrounded by her family and close friends. Ann was born on July 22, 1945 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Edward and Estella (Hilty) Schutz. She married Richard Newcomer on August 4, 1968 and he survives. Also surviving are three children, Michelle (Jim) Murphy of Campbellsville, Kentucky; Jennifer (Rob) Hanak of Hebron, Kentucky; Michael Newcomer of Findlay; six grandchildren, Caroline Murphy, Carter Murphy, Christian Murphy, William Hanak, Ryan Hanak, Charles Hanak; a sister, Mary Kathryn (Maynard) Amstutz of Brentwood, Tennessee, two brothers, Maurice (Sue) Schutz of Findlay, Arthur Schutz (the late Carolyn Schutz) of Elmhurst, Illinois, and a sister-in-law, Rachel Schutz of Pandora, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a sister Sara Jane Balmer, a brother, Oliver Schutz, and an infant sister, Anna Christine Schutz. Ann was a 1963 graduate of Pandora-Gilboa High School. She graduated from Bluffton University in 1967 with a degree in education, and completed her masters in TESOL from the University of Findlay. Ann taught in Wooster and Findlay City Schools and had a passion for all of her students. She was an active member of College First Church of God, Searchers Sunday School class, sang in numerous Christmas cantatas, and was a Stephen Minister. Ann was a Discussion Leader in Bible Study Fellowship. She also was a volunteer with Blanchard Valley Hospital. Ann had a passion for cooking, sewing, spending time with her family and friends, and taking her dog Hans on walks. The family would like to thank OSU Wexner Medical Center, Birchaven, and Bridge Home Healthcare for the wonderful care provided to Ann. Visitation will be held at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME, from 2-8 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the College First Church of God with the Rev. William Reist officiating. Private burial will be in Van Buren Bechtel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to College First Church of God or Bridge Home Health. Online condolences may be sent via www.kirkpatrickbehnke.com.
