OLDTOWN, MD.-Terry Ray Abe passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014. He was 64 years old. Born on July 6, 1949, he was the son of the late James Walker and Vertus Caroline (Santimyier) Abe. Mr. Abe was a 1967 graduate of Oldtown School.
He owned and operated Big A Trucking. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Shelley Lynn Abe; sisters, Debbie, Bonnie, and Shirley; and brothers Bill and Kenny.
Terry was happiest when doing things for others and was always available to lend a helping hand. He especially enjoyed being in the company of his family, his children and grandchildren were his greatest joy.
He enjoyed working the land with his excavation equipment and driving big trucks. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Jane (Van Horn) Abe, daughter April Cannon and husband Robert, Cumberland; daughter Mandy Slider and husband Darrin, Oldtown; and son Adam Abe and wife Stacy, Oldtown. He is also survived by a brother, Fred Abe and wife Bea, Cresaptown; and two sisters, Sarah Paxton and husband Allan, Cumberland, and Patricia Abe and son Gregg, Oldtown. He leaves behind six grandchildren he loved; Lacey, Justyn, Ryan, Shelby, Hayley and Katie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Bethel Assembly of God Church, Oldtown on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. with son-in-law, Bobby Cannon. Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue (www.scarpellifh.com) is assisting the family.
