Mrs. Sara Jewell Lee Carter, 79 of Alma, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, at her residence following a sudden illness.

Born in Blackshear, GA on September 26, 1934, she had lived in Jacksonville, FL for many years before moving to Alma in 1962. Mrs. Carter had worked for Gulf Life in Jacksonville for several years as well as working for the Ginter Boy Company for many years. While living in Alma Mrs. Carter worked with her husband on the family farm. She was a member of the Blackshear Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Carter was a daughter of the late George & Maude Dixon Lee. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Carter; and all of her brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a niece and caretaker, Rachel & L. C. Bodiford of Alma; two sisters-in-law, Doris Lee of Jesup and Lawana Lee of Jacksonville; and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carter will be held Saturday afternoon, April 5, 2014, at 2:00 o'clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

Interment will be in the Strickland Cemetery.
