REV. GERALD KEMP FINCHER, 84, an ordained United Methodist minister in Arkansas, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on March 22, 2014. He was born in Waldo, AR on October 26, 1929 to Grady Lee Fincher and Lois Blake Fincher. He graduated from Waldo High School, attended Magnolia A & M College and Hendrix College where he received a degree in Business Administration. He went to Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University where he received his Masters of Theology.
During his 42 years of active ministry, he served as Senior Pastor at several Congregations in various locations in Arkansas including Little Rock Primrose, Star City, Prescott, Mabelvale, and Hot Springs Village. In retirement, Gerald joined his family in attending St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock. He also served in the Little Rock Annual Conference as Conference Statistician and later as Conference Secretary. He also served on the Conference Board of Evangelism, the Board of Finance & Administration, as well as several other boards and committees.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Julia Ann Keith Fincher; and his brother, Major Donald Blake Fincher of the Air Force.
