A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at Cherry Wood Village Chapel, 1417 SE 107th Avenue, Portland for Doris Ann (Johnson) Mingle who passed away Jan. 23, 2013 at the age of 88.
Doris was born in Portland. She attended OCE (now WOU) in Monmouth, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. While in college, she met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Mingle, an Army soldier training at nearby Camp Adair. They were married after the war in 1946. Doris taught in the Parkrose school district. In 1950, she left teaching to become a devoted mother and homemaker.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Bullard; daughters, Karin Johnson and Shirley Altermatt; five granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
Doris will long be remembered by her family and friends for her positive spirit and faith in God, beautiful smile and kind words of encouragement. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to WOU scholarship fund or a favorite charity.
