KALKASKA — Floy Peck, age 84, of Kalkaska, died peacefully on July 27, 2013, at Munson Hospice House.

Floy was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Hemlock, the youngest of eight children of Harvey and Loraina Borden. She moved to Kalkaska County when she was four.

She graduated from Kalkaska High School, married Dayton Peck in 1947, and moved to Brighton in 1948. They returned to Kalkaska County in 1971, where Floy established Floy's Beauty Salon, which she operated until she retired in 1997. In addition to normal services, she was also known for her excellent psychological and other advice.

In the early years of their retirement she and Dayton traveled widely with their camper, visiting friends and relatives and music festivals across the country.

Floy and Dayton raised three sons, John (Leslie) Peck, of Maple City, Michael Peck, of Barryton, and Sam Peck, of Kalkaska. Her sons brought her the daughters she always wanted, then seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren to love. Her home often included someone who needed help or a place to stay for a week or a month or a year. She will be remembered for her loving heart and generous spirit.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Peoples Church, 216 Cherry Street, Kalkaska.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Munson Hospice House, 1105 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI 49684; (231) 935-2368; https://munsonhealthcare.thankyou4caring.org.
