Carole was born to Willard Herman Douglas and Pansy May Peters Douglas. They preceded her in death. She married Harold "Bear" Gardner on February 3, 1957 in Canton. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Derek (DeLynn) Gardner, Darren (Lisa) Gardner and Dana (Leigh Ann) Gardner; eight grandchildren, Josh (Laura), Jake (Keisha), Jesse (Bridget), Nathan, Emily (Branigan), Jaden, Kyra and Esther; five great grandchildren, Madison, Greyson, Ashayla, Brayden, Breklin and soon to be twins, Locklin and Keian; two brothers-in-law, Bob (Brenda) Gardner and Kenny (Betty) Gardner.

She was preceded in death by one sister Barbara Cook and one infant brother.

Carole was born and raised in Canton and moved to Hamilton Montana for 23 years, then moved back to Canton in 2005.

She worked for Nagle Accounting in Canton and later for Specialty Woodworks in Hamilton retiring in 2003.

Together with her husband she supported two boys through the International Hope Foundation.
