15 February 1977 ~ Samuel Frederick Black,71, of 709 S. Central, Casey, IL., a former Peoria painter, collapsed and died at his home yesterday. Mr. Black was born in Cumberland County on May 7,1905, a son of Reet and Edna (Thompson) Black. He married Violet Harper in Peoria in 1945. She died in 1952. He then married Lucille Wilson in 1959. Mr. Black had been a painter for George Young & Son Painting Contractors and was a member of the Painters and Decorators Union. He retired in 1968. He and Lucille lived in Peoria Heights before moving to Casey in 1970. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a step-son, Frederick (and Opal) Voight of Bartonville, four (step)grandchildren, seven (step)great-grandchildren, four brothers, Roy, Dale and Darrell all of Casey, and Max, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and a sister, Mrs. Lida Tipsword of Casey. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Walter of Peoria, an infant niece and an infant (step)granddaughter. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, where friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Swan Lake Memory Gardens, here in Peoria. Burial date: 18 February 1977.
