Lawrence Martin Atkins was a Pharmacist's Mate 3rd Class in the US Navy in World War 2. He gave his life for his country from WWII as much as any man who died during the war. He had bouts of war-acquired malaria with despondency that contributed to his ending his life I suspect from his combat history has also had PTSD, see below.
He only lived about 3 years after the war. He died in 1949 at age 31.

On his WWII draft registration when he was 23, his wife was Marion Atkins. He was born and died in Harborcreek PA and lived on Pendergrass Rd. He was working for the Erie Meter System . He enlisted November 12th. 1942 and served on the LST 731 . His ship served at the battle and capture of Guam and the battle Okinawa. Both battles were horrific. . As a Pharmacist Mate he must have seen many dead and dying soldiers.

He was demobilized from the Navy on Dec 8th, 1945.

He had a sister Leona who was 6 years older then him.

Rest in peace, Lawrence. Thank you for your service to your country.

A relative named Mrs. Bertha Atkins lived in Ripley NY and signed for his Veteran's grave marker application.

His father was Martin John Atkins and his mother was Marie Orillia Bartlett.
