Malcolm David Barbour Jr., beloved husband, father, and friend passed away Friday, August 17, 2007, after a lengthy illness.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 21, 2007, at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.

David was born January 22, 1940 in Raleigh, N.C., to the late Frank Barbour and Kathleen Williams. He was a former Marine and was the owner and operator of Barbour's Shoe Repair. He also helped to organize a union for UPS and opened two, one in Burlington, N.C. and Rocky Mount.

Mr. Barbour was preceded in death by two daughters, Charlene and Darlene Barbour, and a son, Larry Lee Barbour. He is survived by his wife Barbara Flynn Barbour; son, David Wayne Barbour of Greensboro; daughter, Deborah Barbour of Wilmington; grandchildren, David Richard Marley, Leigh Ann Marley and Lauren Michelle Barbour, and great grandchild Vance Barbour, and long time friend Beverly Ziglar.

David was an honest, hardworking man and he will be missed.
