Charles Dixon

DIXON, Charles "Charlie" Michael Age 65 of Fairborn, passed away Friday. January 7, 2005 at the Dayton Veterans Hospital. He was born February 6,1939 in Athens, Ohio, the son of Clyde M. and Lucille (Carr) Dixon. Upon graduating from Athens High School in 1957, Charlie joined the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Mediterranean. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service and was a member of the Fairborn American Legion Post 526 and the "40 & 8" American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Linda. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Violet; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles M. "Mickey" and Cherry Dixon of Athens, Ohio and Matt and Tina Dixon of New Carlisle; stepson Wallace Blair and his wife Cindy of Lee's Summit, KS; stepdaughters Cheryl Preston and her husband Thomas J. of Fairborn and Sheila Blair and her husband Joseph of Arab, Alabama; sister Claudia Brown of New York; brothers Jeff Dixon and his wife Sandy of Florida and Douglas Dixon of TN; grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Joey, Corey, Carson, Adam, Kelly, Ryan, Scott, Kaylee, Matthew, Brooke, Tyler, Daniel, Peyton and Doc; mother- in-law Goldie Stambach; sisters-in- law Lucille Tippy, Gladys Sanders and Josephine White and her husband Leo, all of Fairborn; brothers-in-law Clarence Grody and his wife Bona of Utah; Alfred Grody and his wife Madline; Carl Grody and his wife Joyce; and Robert Grody and his wife Rosemary, all of Fairborn; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Friends may call in the Burcham Funeral Home, 119 East Main St., Fairborn, Ohio from 5PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, January 11, 2005. Funeral services will be held the following morning, at the funeral home, at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Athens Memorial Cemetery, Athens, Ohio.
