Gretchen B. Noonan, age 89, of Burlington, died Tues., Nov. 29 , 2005, at Pine Brook Pointe Assisted Living Center, Burlington. She was born in Janesville on June 17, 1916, the daughter of Anthony and Emelia (Hondl) Hanauska and was a 1933 graduate of Janesville High School. Gretchen graduated from Whitewater State Teacher’s College (now UW-Whitewater) in 1938 with a Bachelors Degree in Education, taught at the Janesville Vocational School and worked for the Chevrolet Division of General Motors in Janesville. She married Daniel G. Noonan on June 23, 1945, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Janesville. He preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1996. Gretchen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, Burlington, an excellent seamstress, active in the Girl Scouts in both Janesville and Burlington, and was a devoted wife and mother.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Katie (Edward) Misik of Burlington and Barbara (Ron) Cone of East Troy; 4 grandchildren: Jennifer Kubath of East Troy, Jason Misik of Minneapolis, Kristin Misik of Brooklyn, NY, and Maggie (Jeff) Pugesek of Elkhorn; a great grandson, Jaxson Pugesek of Elkhorn; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers, Fr. Joseph Hanauska and infant, Francis; and a sister, Marie Hanauska.
