David C. Blaha, of Wagner; January 13, 1942 - March 17, 2014.

Funeral Mass will be 10 AM, Friday, March 21, 2014 at St. John Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial is in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Dante. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 5 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner followed by Rosary/Wake services at 7 PM at the church.

David Charles Blaha was born January 13, 1942 at Wagner, SD, the son of Charles and Mary (Kocer) Blaha. He died Monday, March 17, 2014 at his home in Wagner. Dave attained the age of 72 years, two months and four days.

Dave graduated from Wagner High School in 1960 and then attended a mechanic school in Omaha, NE.

Dave married Retta Kranig on November 11, 1961 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Marty. Dave worked in construction for awhile. He then worked for Dewald Motor and later bought the business and named it Dave's Motor. He built the new building west of Wagner in 1982 as a repair shop and auto parts store. Dave retired and sold the business to his son, Roger in 2009.

Dave was a member of the Wagner Volunteer Fire Department for approximately 20 years and served on the Board of Directors of the Fire District for 5 years. He was also a member of the Wagner Rotary Club and the 1st US Infantry of Fort Randall re-enactment group.

Dave will be remembered for his love of fishing, hunting, reading, watching TV, and spending time with his dogs.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife, Retta of Wagner; three children: Roger and wife Angela Blaha of Wagner; Randall and wife Anne Blaha of New Albany, OH; and daughter, Renee Blaha of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren: Ashton, Jonalyn, Carynn, Bradley and Samuel; mother, Mary Blaha of Wagner; five brothers: Donald and wife Lynda of Lemoore, CA; Larry and wife Sharon of Wagner; Raymond of Fort Pierre; Dennis and wife Lori of Rapid City; and Douglas and wife Connie of Auburn, KS.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Charles Blaha.
