Edwin F. Aufdenkamp, 89, of Bowling Green, Ohio went to his heavenly home on Friday April 4, 2014. He was born on March 4, 1925 to William and Lena (Buehning) Aufdenkamp. He graduated with honors from Portage Twp. High School in 1943. After graduation, he joined the Navy and was assigned to the U.S. Zeus and served in Antivecok in the Marshall Islands as a Quartermaster Signalman for the ship. He was discharged on March 25, 1946. While on furlough he met the girl of his dreams, Phyllis Catherine Tilton, and they were married on April 12, 1947. Surviving Edwin is his loving wife of nearly 67 years, Phyllis, son Ralph (Miriam) of Bowling Green, daughters Barbara (Wayne) Badenhop of Wauseon, Beverly (Ken) Gerwin of Bradner, Linda (Ron) Joseph of Bowling Green, brother Herman (Eileen) of Perrysburg, sister Helen (Edward) Labo of Sylvania, sister-in-law Judy Aufdenkamp of Bowling Green, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy Burditt, brothers Raymond and Eldon and great-granddaughter Danielle Boulis. He was a lifelong farmer and dedicated to raising livestock. He was a former council member and Sunday school superintendent at Hope Lutheran Church where he attended his entire life. One of his greatest joys was playing on the church dart ball team for over 70 years and earned the "Green Corner Coach" award. He was a member of the former Hope Brotherhood and the Portage Valley Federation of Lutheran Men. He was a big fan of Ohio State Basketball and enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends. He was a loving husband and father and cherished the times he spent with his grandchildren. Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Tuesday April 8, 2014 at DUNN FUNERAL HOME, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 W. Wooster Street. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at 11 am at Hope Lutheran Church, 13507 Cloverdale Rd. Bowling Green. Pastor Janine Dress and Pastor James Budke will officiate. Burial will follow in Fish Cemetery, Pemberville. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church, Worship for Shut-ins or The American Heart Association.
