James Franklin Blackburn, 81, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday at his home, Kokomo R.R. 5, following an illness of two years duration.

Mr. Blackburn had been a resident of this community since 1935. He had been employed by the Orange Crush plant here since it was opened, until ill health compelled his retirement two years ago.

The deceased was born Aug. 26, 1873 at Carrollton, Ky., the son of Joseph and Frances (Bassett) Blackburn.

He was married in 1935 to Mrs. Ruby Jones who survives. He leaves a son, Floyd Blackburn of Delphi and three daughters, Mrs. Emily Strasser of Mishawaka, Mrs. Hazel Criswell and Mrs. Zella Huston, both of Lafayette. There are two stepsons, Vern O. Jones, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Claude E. Jones, Kokomo.

He leave also two half-brothers, Joe Allen of Churubusco and Tom Allen of Crawfordsville. There are 28 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Ellers Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Amos Putney officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Lake Cemetery in Carroll County near Wolcott. Friends may call at the Ellers Funeral Home after noon Wednesday. The family requests that friends omit sending flowers.
