Greenbury Wilson Allen, for many years a practicing attorney in Portland and active in civic affairs, died Sunday at his winter home in San Diego, Cal., where he spent much of his time with his son, John, after retiring from his profession in 1928.

Mr. Allen was a resident and attorney of Portland for 43 years, coming here in 1885 from Van Wert, O., where he was born. He was graduated from the law school of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and practiced law for a few years in Van Wert. In 1883 he married Margaret Varty and shortly afterward moved to Portland, where he engaged in the practice of his profession with the firm of Caples, Hurley & Allen, later Caples & Allen and in later years with Allen & Mulkey.

Mr. Allen took an active interest in civic affairs and served as a member of the water board of the city under Mayor Harry Lane.

Besides his son, John W. Allen, he is survived by two brothers and a sister in Ohio.
