He is also survived by two daughters, Winnifred (Ken) Beers of Indianola and Dorothy Zimmer of Yorkville, Illinois; his son, David (Connie) Almy of Indianola; his foster daughter, Mary Copeland of Rantoul, Illinois; his brother, Robert Almy of Cayuga, Indiana; his sister, Jean Miller of Boulder, Colorado; his eight grandchildren; his 12 great-grandchildren and his two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Gordon Jr. and Donald Almy and one sister, Lois Goodmiller.
Mr. Almy graduated from Georgetown High School and lived on a farm east of Indianola where he operated a grain and livestock farm, including Angus cattle. He was a member of Indianola Baptist Church and taught the high school Sunday school class for several years. He was a member of Indianola Methodist Church where he was a board member, Sunday school superintendent and adult Sunday school class teacher. Mr. Almy was a member of Indianola Grade School Board, Woodlawn Cemetery Board, Indianola Historical Board and the planning committee for the Indianola Sesquicentennial. He was a president of the Lions Club, a Mason and a Shriner. He was a foster parent of Mary Copeland of Rantoul.
