Daniel William Roethe, 36, of Edgerton, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005. He was born on Oct. 12, 1969, the son of Judge John and the late Kristen (Nordholm) Roethe. He graduated from Edgerton Senior High School in 1988, enlisting in the U.S. Army immediately after his high school graduation. He served proudly in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia and Iraq in 1990, and received the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in July, 1991. Dan worked at Lear Seating Corp in Janesville from 1992 until his death. Dan was an active outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing of any kind. He especially enjoyed taking his daughters for rides in the woods on his 4-wheel ATV. He was a loving father, son and brother to his family. Dan was a generous, thoughtful person who couldn't do enough for those he loved. He will be best remembered for his kind, tender heart of gold, his boisterous sense of humor, and the love he had for his daughters. He is survived by his father and stepmother, John (Jann) Roethe of Edgerton; 2 daughters, Taylor and Tori, both at home; a sister, Jennifer (Greg) Kersten of Milton; a stepbrother, Nate (Cadey) Eastman of Chicago; a stepsister, Susan (Donald) Wynn of Barbourville, KY; nieces, Haley and Sydney Wynn; his grandmother, Katie Roethe of Milton; and a special friend, Emmy Gretebeck. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kristen; his grandfather, Vincent William Nordholm; his grandmother, Florence Buslee Nordholm; and his grandfather, John Towne Roethe.
