Spent 19 months in the armed forces during the Korean Conflict. He achieved the rank of corporal.
Five months ago surgery was attempted in order to correct a heart defect, but proved only partially successful. Loren suffered a sudden heart failure and was hospitalized for several weeks. During this time the need for a second operation was discovered. On Wednesday, April 19, Loren underwent this second surgery, but he never regained consciousness and passed away Thursday.
