Funeral services for Margaret Elizabeth Threatt "Bess" Hoffman, 101, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at Middendorf Baptist Church. The Revs. Don Rhyne and Ed Griggs will officiate with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday, December 26, 2005 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Middendorf Baptist Church, 2202 Middendorf Church Rd., Hartsville, SC 29550.
Mrs. Hoffman died Friday, December 23, 2005. Born in Lancaster, SC, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Lucy Mahaffey Threatt. She was a member of Middendorf Baptist Church. She taught school for many years in NC and SC, was a member of the W.M.U. and taught Sunday school. She was honored by the South Carolina Legislature on her 100th birthday with a certificate of appreciation for her dedication to her family, community, and state.
Surviving are her husband, Ebbie Hoffman of Hartsville, SC; sisters, Julia T. Lyman of Columbia, SC, Gertrude T. Potts of Florence, SC, Sarah T. Haynes of Moreland, GA.
