Richard H. Smith 1929 - 2006 Richard Haslam Smith died at home early on Christmas morning. He died as he lived - straightforward and unafraid. He was born May 17, 1929 to Silas S. Smith and Cenella Haslam in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a Captain in the U. S. Air Force and served in Japan during the Korean conflict. Dick married and divorced Lee Kemp. He married Anne Boam in 1961. He was the owner and manager of Tooele Title Company for many years and was known as the "Title Man." He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, BPO Elks, the Eagles, and Moose organizations. Dick is survived by his wife, Anne, children Cherie Strathern of Carborro North Carolina; Shane (Vera) Smith of Lexington North Carolina; Susan (Jerry) Houghton, and Stuart (Staci) Smith, both of Tooele, Utah. His grandchildren are Evann Strathern, Alison (Matt) McCoy, Cole Houghton, Tiffani Smith, Skyler Smith, and Quinten Smith. Mattison McCoy is his great-granddaughter, his sister is Carol (Madsen) (Howard G Smith). His family will miss him, especially on Sundays at 5:00. Grandpa has cooked the family Sunday dinner since Susan and Stuart were small children. Friends and family will gather at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main, Tooele, Utah on Friday Dec. 29, 2006 between 12:00 Noon and 2:00 PM to remember his life. Interment will follow in the Tooele City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
