Charles was born July 3, 1946 in Florence, South Carolina. He graduated from Davenport West High School and served in the United States Navy.
He was a member of the Midwest Operating Engineers Local #150. He enjoyed photography, spending time with his family and joking around with friends.
Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Miriam (Harrell) Burks, Davenport; children: Brian (Carolyn) Dickens, Chicago and Bree (Jay) Johannsen, Bettendorf; grandchildren: Helena, Jackson, Lola and Chloe and a brother, Michael Krieger. He was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Krieger.
