Yoshiko was shot and killed by her 15 year old son, Alfred K. Brown, at their home. Her 20 year old daughter, Dorino Brown, was murdered next by Alfred.
When Wilfred Brown arrived home a short time later, Alfred immediately killed him as well with the rifle.

The family had been living in Tokyo for about 7 years, but had moved to Massachusetts 6 months earlier.
