William J. Salzmann, 87, died Thursday evening, Dec. 15, 2005, in Harlingen, TX. He was born on March 30, 1918, in Marathon City, WI, the son of Benjamin and Anna (Jansen) Salzmann. Bill married Margaret Marie Montanye on April 27, 1940, in Milwaukee, WI, at St. John's Cathedral. He worked for 40 years at Parker Pen Co., retiring May 29, 1981. Bill was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Janesville Conservation Club, the Janesville Camera Club, and the Janesville Swinging Squares for 19 years. He had worked for two years with the Civilian Conservation Corp and three years at the Sidney Hill Health Club in Milwaukee. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Carol (Tom) Carney of Orfordville; 7 grandchildren: Renee (Tom) Sigwarth, Lori (Kevin) Heiser, Paul (Beckie) Carney, Peggy Bartz, Andy (Nancy) Carney, Joe (Kathy) Bartz, and Jeff (Dory) Bartz; 26 great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews; 4 siblings: Rudy, Alfred (Barbara), Joseph (Betty) Salzmann, and Adeline Hladilek. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Bartz; and siblings: Norbert, Henry, Alex, Ray, Alois Salzmann, and Marie Middlecamp, and Theresa Tomcek.
