Frederick J. Schenkl, 86, of Janesville, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, at Beloit Health & Rehabilitation Center. Fred was born on Aug. 19, 1919, in Zwittaue, Austria, the son of Stephen and Anna (Schmidt) Schenkl. Fred and Marian (Naatz) were married on May 27, 1939, at St. Patrick's Rectory in Janesville. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in May of this year at Beloit Health & Rehab Center where Fred had resided for the past 2 ½ years. He served with the U.S. Army for 3 years during World War II and was employed by Hufcor for 48 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. As a young boy, Fred enjoyed fishing. He loved music playing the guitar, accordion, organ and singing. He especially liked seeing people happy and enjoying themselves. He loved flowers (daylilies) and working in his garden. His love for his family will be missed and remembered by them lovingly. Fred is survived by his wife, Marian; daughter, Mary J. Brown; his sister, Shirley (Charles) Lynch of San Jose, CA; 2 grandsons, Tony Russ Brown of Hollister, CA, and Steven (Lisa) Brown; and a great-grandson, Colton Brown of Vacaville, CA; His parents preceded him in death.
