James F. Welch, age 68, of 2110 S. Pine St., died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at Mercy Hospital. He was born in Janesville on June 17, 1937, the son of Veron J. and Eva (Polzin) Welch. He graduated from Janesville Senior High School in 1956 and served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959, stationed in Germany. James married Charlene A. McKeown on June 6, 1959, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He had been employed for 42 years by General Motors in Skilled Trades and he enjoyed working in the Powerhouse until his retirement in December of 1998. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, UAW Local 95 and he enjoyed camping in the Trempealeau Area, hunting, fishing, cooking, very meticulous care of his yard, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene; 3 sons: Brian Welch of Janesville, Kevin (Lisa) Welch of Brodhead and Jim (Nancy) Welch of Janesville; 2 daughters, Laurie (fiancé, Tom Drew) Welch of Brodhead and Carrie (Bob) McIntosh of Greenville, WI; 8 grandchildren: Zach and Tyler Welch of Brodhead, Alexander and Ellie McIntosh of Greenville, Jake, Brock, Kaila and Molly Welch of Janesville; 2 sisters, Rose Mary Dulin and Irene (Harold) Hendrickson both of Janesville; a step sister, Jean Kotwitz of Janesville; step sister-in-law, Rosemary Metzdorf of Whitewater; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Bob Dulin; step mother, Alice Welch; step brother, Terry Metzdorf and step brother-in-law, Herb Kotwitz.
