Buford C. Armstrong, 88, of Ft. Smith, AR passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 in Fort Smith. Buford was born October 10, 1925 in Meadowview, OK to Pat & Evie (Phillips) Amstrong. He worked at TRANE until he retired. He was of the Assembly of God faith. He loved to hunt, fish, garden and he loved his animals. Buford was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Armstrong; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Harlen, Aire "Bear" & Willis "Chuck" Armstrong.
Survivors include his children Billy Joe & Van Kennedy of Ft. Smith, AR, Vernon & Vicky Kennedy of Greenwood, AR, Marie "Snookey" & Sheldon Aylesworth of Spiro, OK, Jannette Haynes of Heavener, OK, Linda Thompson of Ft. Smith, AR, Jerry Don & Nancy Armstrong of Panola, OK, Wayne Armstrong of Panama, OK, Eugene & Karen Armstrong of Howe, OK, Annette & Dallas Polk of Ft. Smith, AR; 23 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Thompson; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews; relatives & friends.
Services will be 1 pm, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the First Assembly of God Church in Poteau, OK with Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Summerfield Cemetery, Summerfield, OK. Pallbearers will be Johnny Kennedy, DeWayne Kennedy, Jason Kennedy, Thomas Lenard, Jimmy Don Wilson, Junior Hetherington, Kevin Smith, Chris Armstrong, Randy Armstrong & Dallas Polk Jr.
The family will be at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
