Frieda G. Epp, 101 years of age, of Beatrice, Nebraska, died Sunday morning, September 18, 2005 at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center. She was born on February 14, 1904 at rural Plymouth, Nebraska. She attended country school District #38 near Plymouth, Nebraska, the German Bible School, and attended the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. She did baby-sitting for family, friends and neighbors prior to her marriage. On November 28, 1928 she married Herman Epp at the Kilpatrick church. They lived and farmed near Plymouth until 1955 and then moved to a farm near Fairbury. After the death of her husband, Herman, she moved to Beatrice in 1962. She worked at the Beatrice Mennonite Hospital as a cook and then worked at the Nebraska P.E.O. Home in Beatrice until her retirement. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church of rural Beatrice where she was involved in the Ladies Aid and the Quilting Group. She enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, needlework and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include three sons Kenneth Epp and his wife Erna of Jansen, Nebraska, Alan Epp and his wife Eunice of Plymouth, Nebraska and Richard Epp and his wife Marilyn of Fairbury, Nebraska. One daughter Lucille Engbrecht and her husband Roger of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. One sister, Bertha Penner of North Newton, Kansas. One sister-in-law, Martha Jantzen of Beatrice, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents Alex and Helen Ensz Jantzen, her husband Herman, who died on October 31, 1960, three brothers Herbert, Gerhard and Edward Jantzen and three sisters Marie Jantzen, Ella Penner and Margaret Claassen.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday, September 23, 2005 at the First Mennonite Church of rural Beatrice, Nebraska with Pastor Roger Engbrecht and Pastor Donavin Diller officiating. Burial will be at the First Mennonite Church Cemetery of rural Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 1:15 P.M. Friday in the fellowship room at the church. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with Raymond Jantzen and Duane Claassen in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 5:00 P.M. Monday until 9:00 P.M. Thursday evening and then one hour preceding the service at the church on Friday. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
