Charles Ross Stonhouse was born July 13, 1909 to Charles Howard and Ethelyn Lovie Stonhouse nee Stratton in Balmoral, Manitoba. He married Marjorie Eileen Lane at her parent's home on Jan. 1, 1941 in Hammond, BC. Ross and Eileen had two children - Margaret Ellen Gehm nee Stonhouse and Lora Jeanne Stonhouse. Both daughters died young, of cancer; Margaret on Oct. 27, 1978, age 38, and Jeanne on Aug. 24, 1958, age 13. Prior to marriage, Eileen was a schooltea cher at Maple Ridge School. Ross and Eileen started their life together in Youbou, BC, a very small community on the shores of Lake Cowichan located west of Duncan, BC. Ross worked for the Empire Lumber Company, which operated the first sawmill there.

From 1958 to 1992, Ross and Eileen lived at 434 - 4th Street Nanaimo, BC. For most of that time, Ross was a driver/ salesman at McGavin's Toastmaster and Eileen was a schoolteacher in the Nanaimo School District.

Ross died, age 83, on Aug. 3, 1992 in Nanaimo, BC and is interred beside Eileen in Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar, BC.
