Obituary for Henry Hardin Massey Jr.
Henry H. Massey, Jr., age 78, of Mt. Pleasant passed away unexpectedly April 12, 2014
At Maury Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Massey will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with L. C. Loveless officiating. Burial will follow at Palestine Cemetery in Lewis County. The family will visit with friends on Monday, April, 14 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born on December 13, 1935 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Henry Hardin Massey, Sr. and the late Ruby Trigg Massey.

In his years of life he worked for the Lewis County Highway Department. Later, he worked for Red Ace, Phillips 66 Service Station and retired from the Maury County Co-Op after 19 years. He was a farmer and loved to take care of his cows and cut hay. He had been farming since he was a small boy growing up. He was a member of the Gordonsburg Church of Christ.

He loved to watch Mt. Pleasant High School Football and to watch UT Football on television. He loved his great-grandchildren very much and his beloved dog, Shelby. He never met a stranger.

Henry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Myra Johnston Massey; daughter: Connie Massey Parson; three grandchildren: Tabitha Farlow (Ernest) Jackson, Becky Parson (James) Robb and Blake (Crystal) Parson; two great-grandchildren: Lily Robb and Carter Parson; one brother-in-law: Max Johnston; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Blake Parson, James Robb, Ernest Jackson, Donnie Haywood, Johnny Bennett and Orin Short will serve as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gordonsburg Church of Christ, past and present employees of Maury County Co-op, Bobby West, Claude Brawner and Jackie Boshers.
