Kitty came to the town of Chesapeake Beach Maryland in the 1940s to visit her brothers Robert, Summers, and Carl, who were doing logging work at the time and met Herbert Klein, whom she married and raised four children with (Herbert Jr., Ella Faye, Joseph and Eugenia) until his death in 1962.
She lived in Chesapeake Beach most of her life except for a short time in the 1950s returning to McCoy Virginia to help her adoptive mother (Nellie Kate Johnston) care for her adoptive father (Newton Johnston) before his passing from black lung disease from working in the coal mines, then her family along with her adoptive mother returned to Chesapeake Beach, and again in the mid 1960s living in Upper Marlboro Maryland for a couple years after she married her second husband Elmer Deane after her first husband passed away, she had three more children by him (Louie, Pamela, and Wilbur), before they returned to the beach permanently.
Over the years she worked as a waitress, bartender and clerk at the numerous restaurants and businesses in the Chesapeake Beach area (The Rod n Reel, Chaneys, The Sea Breeze, Stinnetts, The Old Key, Carey's, Ewald's, Mickey's, Blackie and Lil's, Tommie's Bar, Restaurant and General Store, and the Ice House as well as Tucker's in Upper Marlboro) and along with her first husband Herbert delivered The Washington Post and the Washington Star Newspapers throughout Calvert County.
However she eventually went to work for the town of Chesapeake Beach at the Chesapeake Beach Town Hall working with her daughter Ellie doing clerical work for many years until retiring due the health reasons.
