THE LATE HOWARD D WHITTIER:
Howard D Whittier passed quietly away at 2:48 Monday afternoon at his residence 811 Erie Avenue. The deceased came to Williamsport over 35 years ago when lumbering was in its infancy, he placed the first lath mill in the first steam saw mill in this city known as the Old Fisher Mill. At the time of the late war, when the call sounded he willingly responded to it, having volunteered his service to Co I 199th Pa Volunteers. At the time of his death he was a member of the Barrows Post. He leaves a wife and seven children all grown to mourn his loss: Charles E, Emma M, Cora E and Annie M who remain at home, the others who are married are William E, Frederick E and Mrs. Clara L Collins all of this city. burial in Wildwood Cemetery.
