GEORGE D. MASON, 76, DIES AT HIS HOME THIS MORNING
George D. Mason, who would have been 77 the last day of December, died early this morning at his home in La Plata. He had been in poor health for about two years previous to the heart attack that ended his life.
Mason was born Dec. 31, 1876 on a farm south of La Plata. He attended Union Ridge school and on Feb. 3, 1897 married Miss Amelia Ellis Shain at her home near La Plata. Four children were born, three of who survive, Mrs. Fred Willhite and Clark Mason of La Plata, and Willie Mason of Cleburne, Texas. One daughter, Mrs. Frances Roan died in 1923.
Other surviving relatives include two sisters, Mrs. Ida Husted of Kirksville, and Mrs. Laura Frizzell of Los Angeles, California. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mason was a retired farmer and a member of the La Plata Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at the La Plata Baptist Church with the Wilson Funeral Home in charge.
Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
