He loved fishing, hunting, golfing, gardening, working on cars, Louise's Restaurant and John Boy's Restaurant. He was a member of Teamster's Local 728 for 32 years. He worked for Murdock Freight Lines, Hennis Freight Lines and retired for Yellow Freight System in 1991. He was part owner of E & B Garage in Kennesaw in the early 1960's. He served in the Georgia Army National Guard for eight years, North Georgia State Fair volunteer for 20 years, was a member of Paulding County Golf Group and Coweta Hunting Club until his health failed. He attended Sprayberry High School class of 1959.
He is survived by his wife Mary Eller Barrett to whom he was married 55 years; son Ken Barrett (Lori); daughter Renee Barrett Fielden (Tim); grandson Jason Barrett (Ainsleigh); granddaughter Mandi Barrett Shealey (Justin); great grandsons Connor Barrett and Luke Shealey; great granddaughter Avery Barrett and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. Interment was at Kennesaw City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, American Heart Association, 1685 Terrell Mill Rd. Marietta, GA 30067, or American Diabetes Association, 225 Peachtree St. NE Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30303.
