That plant later became Allied Chemical and he would work there until his retirement, advancing to shift supervisor and safety trainer. In 1985 Bubs and Joanne Trahan Borne were married, moving to Lafayette in 1987. Bubs was an avid golfer and a longtime soldier in Arnie's Army. He was for many years a devout member and active volunteer at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, and later at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette.
