Josephine A. Powalisz, age 88, of St. Mary's Home Felician Village, 2005 Division St., Manitowoc, formerly of 1225 S. 18th St., Manitowoc, entered eternal rest Tuesday evening, April 25, 2006, at St. Mary's Home.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Wojciechowski, O.F.M. with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Josephine was born July 5, 1917, at Yankton, S.D. She was the daughter of the late George and Clara Chvala Brixius Sr. Josephine was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1937. She was employed at St. Mary's Home for 25 years and then volunteered at St. Mary's Home for another 11 years. On Jan. 22, 1937, she married Francis Powalisz at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death March 5, 2006. Josephine was a member of St. Francis of Assisi and a member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church along with the church's rosary and altar society and parish choir until three years ago.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Gerald ""Jerry"" and Donna Powalisz, Manitowoc; one daughter: Shirley Daley, Green Bay; one brother: Harold Brixius, Manitowoc; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends surviving. She was preceded in death by her husband: Francis on March 5, 2006; two sisters: Dorothy and Kathryn Brixius; one brother: George Brixius Jr.; and one sister-in-law: Eunice Brixius.

Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home at 11 a.m.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 628 North Water Street, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Josephine's family would like to thank the entire staff at St. Mary's Home Felician Village for the excellent and loving care they provided to their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Shirley and Jerry would like to extend a ""special"" thank you to Sister Colette who so unselfishly gave of herself to be a companion to their mother.
