Russell "Punk" Henning, 70, died Friday, April 18, 2014 at his rural Canistota home while under hospice care.

Russell Glen Henning was born in Lennox, SD on March 20,1944, the son of Harold and Ada Jane (Wiggers) Henning., He grew up in Worthing and graduated from Worthing High School in 1963.

On October 31, 1964 he was united in marriage to Diana "Disa" DeWitt at the Worthing Congregational Church.

They made their home at Worthing until 2006 they moved to their lake home on Lake Vermillion near Canistota. Disa died on October 31, 2008.

Russell had been employed at Millman's in Sioux Falls, Greenlee's Meat Packing Plant and John Morrell & Co. until his retirement.

Besides his wife, Russell was preceded in death by his mother in 1976, his father in 2002, one son, Glen, in infancy, a brother, Danny Wiggers in 1998 and his brother-in-law, Byron Stack in 2012.

Grateful for having shared his life are two sons: Andrew and his wife, Tara, Henning of Crooks and Tony Henning of Mt. Olive, North Carolina; three grandchildren: Aniston Henning, Ashley Gonzales and Alex Gonzales; one brother, Howard Henning, Dutch Harbor, AK and one sister, Helen Stack, Lennox and his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
