Espell Legalo Newport, 56, of Stockton, passed away July 27, 2007 at a Stockton hospital. She was born February 8, 1951 in Laie, Oahu, Hawaii. She was a childcare provider, a Pearl of the Pacific Polynesian dance teacher and a tour guide at the Polynesian Culture Center. Mrs. Newport was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Creekside Ward. She was the devoted daughter of the late Tifaga Asuega & Siniva Moananu Mataalii; the beloved wife of 34 years to the late Francis John Newport; the loving mother of Losaline Mohetau (& Paula) of Stockton; the dear sister of brothers the late Tifaga Mataalii Jr., the late Wallace Tuiatua Asuega Mataalii, the late Henry Sa Tauiliili Asuega Mataalii, Tigi Tuiatua Asuega Mataalii, John Tauiliili Asuega Mataalii, Alvin Asuega Mataalii and Lincoln Siitupe Asuega Mataalii, of sisters Lucy Mataalii Wallwork Keil, Ida Mataalii Wilson, Kathy Mataalii Anderson, Lilyann Mataalii Joyce, May Aaitui Mataalii Swafford and Mavis Asuega Mataalii Faumui.
